My Lord comes first. Family comes second, and then there's you and me. You can find me... shopping (for socks), antique hunting, eating chocolate, Jazzercising, and sitting in a movie theater. You will also find me at my church Hyde Park United Methodist Church Who? is Cindy Allison Herold? I am a 50's woman who went back to school at age 40 to become a Speech Language Pathologist after spending years in the field of advertising and public relations. Why? Advertising and Public Relations was a lot of fun and very exciting, but it did not satisfy my soul. Once I was married, and that kind of career didn't blend with family life, I went back to school with thoughts of working as a special education teacher. What? happened to that idea? My Dad had his ¾ of his tongue removed due to the deadly double duo of "smoking and drinking." While I was studying for a math exam in his hospital room, a Speech Language Pathologist came into his room to help him speak without a tongue. I had not known that the profession had even existed until then. The day of orientation to enter the 4 yr. college I switched my major. Best thing I've ever done for myself. Thank you dear departed Dad for guiding me to the most meaningful and soulfully satisfying career I could have ever imagined. I received an A.A. from Hillsborough Community College, a B.A. in Speech Language Pathology from USF in Tampa, and a M.A. from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. I also received my Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). I have a Florida Department of Education certification and an SLP Florida state license. Where? did Cindy come from? I was born in Bremerhaven, Germany to a career Army man and housewife, who both came from the Kansas City, Missouri area. This army brat has lived in Germany twice, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Missouri, and Michigan. I have seen practically every state in our United States, and several other countries. Florida is the first "home" I've ever known. Now I have another home away from home in Banner Elk, North Carolina. How? do I operate? With
a direct, open-minded, truthful, adventurous, gleeful, soulful,
caring, and hopeful way of living. |
